Man Shot After Confronting Car Burglars in Hollister

HOLLISTER, CA.  —  Officers with the Hollister Police Department are reportedly looking for three suspects in connection with a shooting over the weekend.

According to a press release by the Hollister Police Department, officers responded shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, to a report of a shooting on the 400 block of Meridian St.

At the scene, officers discovered a lone victim suffering multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was treated at the scene before being transported to a local trauma center, police said.

Investigators determined that the victim had confronted multiple individuals suspected of breaking into their vehicle, and followed them while demanding that they return items they had taken.

The confrontation escalated and resulted in the victim being shot. The suspects then fled the area, police said.

Anyone with information relevant to the case is encouraged to contact Detective Gaeta at 831-636-4330. Those who prefer to remain anonymous can contact WeTip at 800-78-CRIME.
