Re-arrest Pending for a Parolee Hospitalized after Crashing a Stolen Vehicle

OAKLEY, CA — A man, recently released from jail, finds himself once again facing arrest. Joseph McDonald, 44, was
free on parole and was reportedly driving a stolen vehicle when he was in a vehicle collision.

McDonald was out on parole at the time he reportedly stole the vehicle and crashed.

Both parties were taken to area hospitals and pending medical clearance, McDonald
is set for booking into county jail. It seems McDonald, of Brentwood, was driving when an officer observed the stolen vehicle, near Empire Avenue
Gamay Drive in Oakley. The officer followed the stolen vehicle as it turned onto Teakwood Drive.

“As the officer was following the vehicle, it was learned that person suspected of
stealing the vehicle was McDonald,” officials said. A records check revealed that McDonald was a parolee at large.
“He violated the terms of his parole and was wanted back in custody,” a police statement read.

The officer attempted to stop the stolen vehicle, but the driver fled at a high rate of speed. The suspect
turned onto eastbound Main Street, and collided with a pickup truck. Both vehicles became disabled
as a result of the crash.

McDonald’s arrest and booking is pending his release from the hospital.
