Tulare Man Sentenced to 26 Years in Prison for Child Molestation

PORTERVILLE, CA — “On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, in Department 10 of the Tulare County Superior Court, Visalia Division, the court sentenced Frederick Guerrero, age 79, to 26 years in state prison.
Guerrero pleaded no contest on December 30, 2024, to ten counts of lewd act upon a child under the age of fourteen. Guerrero also admitted the special allegations that the crimes involved substantial sexual conduct, were committed against a vulnerable victim and that he violated a position of trust during the commission of the crimes. Each count is a felony and are considered strike offenses.
Guerrero’s crimes spanned from August 6, 1999, through July 1, 2021, and were committed against three female victims. The victims were between the ages of five and twelve-years-old at the time of the sexual assaults.
“We are conditioned as a society to expect things to happen immediately. That is often not the case when it comes to justice in these types of cases. Fear, trauma, and perceived shame are powerful inhibitors for victims to come forward in such a public way,” said Tulare County District Attorney Tim Ward. “This case is a prime example of bravery and perseverance. To the victims in this case, we thank you. To other victims of similar crimes, it’s never too late.”
All the sexual assault crimes occurred in the City of Tulare. In addition to his sentence, Guerrero will be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.”
