Motorist Arrested After Unregistered Guns, Four Pounds of Cannabis Allegedly Found During Traffic Stop

DELHI, CA  — Merced County authorities recently arrested an individual for the alleged possession of unregistered firearms and an illegal quantity of cannabis.

According to a press release by the Merced County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy stopped a vehicle on Hillside Drive on February 4. The deputy reportedly saw loose ammunition in the open glove box, along with loose cannabis in the front passenger seat and a bag of processed cannabis flower in the back seat.

The deputy conducted a search of the vehicle and also discovered two unregistered firearms, one loaded and the other unloaded, along with four loaded magazines, an empty magazine, two boxes of ammo, and four pounds of processed cannabis.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 29 year old Alejandro Lopez of Delhi, was taken into custody and transported to the Merced County jail. During booking, deputies allegedly discovered a suspected controlled substance on his person.

Lopez was later booked into jail, the sheriff’s office said.
