Deputies Reportedly Find Methamphetamine During Traffic Stop; Two Arrested

BERTSCH, CA  —  Two individuals were taken into custody on narcotics charges late last month in Del Norte County.

According to a press release by the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office, deputies pulled over a vehicle in the Bertsch Tract area just before 1 a.m. on January 30 for an alleged vehicle code violation.

K-9 Deputy Zuko was utilized for a “free air sniff” of the vehicle, and reportedly alerted to the presence of narcotics.

Deputies searched the vehicle and located just over 18 grams of suspected methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies identified the occupants of the vehicle as Scott Barker, 53, and Brent Barker, 46. Both were taken into custody.
