South Sacramento Stolen Car Chase: Suspect Apprehended by K9 Officer

SOUTH SACRAMENTO, CA — “Late last night, Sheriff’s Central Division Deputies responded to assist the Sacramento Police Department on a vehicle stop in South Sacramento. The driver advised Officers he was on probation, and when told to exit the car, he put the car in drive and fled. Deputies pursued the vehicle and with the help of the Elk Grove Police Department who successfully deployed Stop Sticks puncturing two of the vehicle’s tires, Deputies were able to use the Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) and safely disable the car.
Despite commands to surrender, the driver fled on foot. Sheriff’s K9 Dave quickly apprehended the suspect, and he was taken into custody. Deputies conducted a records check of the vehicle and learned it had been reported stolen. The driver was identified Latenette Gaston from Long Beach. He was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he is being held on $50,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.”
