Two Adults and Juvenile Detained After Violent Incident in Terra Linda

TERRA LINDA, CA — San Rafael police officers apprehended two adults and a juvenile following a violent altercation in Terra Linda that escalated into a vehicle pursuit ending in San Francisco. Authorities recovered multiple firearms linked to the incident.
At approximately 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, the San Rafael Police Department (SRPD) received an emergency report about a confrontation in the parking lot of a Safeway store in Terra Linda. According to initial accounts, three suspects—two adults and one juvenile—engaged in a dispute with two individuals, which led to a physical altercation. During the clash, the suspects brandished firearms, and one struck a victim in the head with a gun. No gunshots were fired before the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle.
SRPD officers arrived swiftly and coordinated efforts to locate the suspects. Additional units were strategically stationed throughout San Rafael, while detectives utilized the city’s automated license plate reader system to track the suspect vehicle.
A short time later, an officer patrolling downtown San Rafael spotted the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The suspects refused to comply, initiating a pursuit onto southbound U.S. Highway 101. As the chase neared the Golden Gate Bridge, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) took over. SRPD officers continued tracking the vehicle as it entered San Francisco. The pursuit concluded on Presidio Parkway when the suspect vehicle experienced mechanical failure.
Following the stop, all three suspects attempted to escape on foot but were quickly taken into custody. During the arrest, officers discovered that one of the suspects was carrying a backpack containing three loaded handguns and an assault weapon. Among the recovered firearms, one was identified as a ghost gun, meaning it had no serial number. Officers also seized extended ammunition magazines.
The two adult suspects were booked into Marin County Jail, while the juvenile was placed in Marin County Juvenile Hall. Charges against them include felony assault with a firearm, brandishing a weapon, possession of an unserialized firearm, possession of high-capacity ammunition magazines, evading police, and resisting arrest. Additionally, the two adults face felony child endangerment charges.
The victim who sustained a head injury did not require hospitalization. Preliminary findings suggest that the suspects and victims were known to each other. The SRPD continues to investigate the circumstances and motivations surrounding the incident.
