Three Arrested, Including Juvenile, for Allegedly Transporting Narcotics for Sale

SISKIYOU COUNTY, CA  —  “At approximately 2:10 in the morning, the Deputy noticed a white Toyota Camry traveling along Interstate 5 without a license plate light, a violation of CVC 24601. Upon approaching the vehicle, the Deputy spoke with the driver Jimmy H Gutierrez, 20, passenger David Hernandez, 22, and a juvenile about the reason for the stop. During their conversation, the Deputy learned that Gutierrez was driving without a valid license, and that the party was travelling from Richmond, CA to an unknown destination. The Deputy also noted the strong odor of marijuana in the vehicle, and saw several bags of marijuana in plain view, and decided to initiate a probable cause search of the vehicle.

In the ensuing search, the Deputy located a black Nike bag containing various bags of a white crystalline substance, along with an electronic scale and smaller bags of marijuana flower throughout the vehicle. When the drugs were later tested and weighed, the white crystalline substance was determined to be 2,609.9 grams of fentanyl, which amounts to roughly 1,304,500 lethal doses.

Gutierrez and Hernandez were placed under arrest and booked in the Siskiyou County jail for the possession and transportation of a controlled substance for sales through noncontiguous counties, as well as the possession of marijuana for sale. The juvenile passenger was transported to the Siskiyou County Juvenile Probation and cited for possession and transportation of a controlled substance through noncontiguous counties.”
