OAKLAND, CA — Suspects implicated in five separate Oakland homicide investigations have
been arrested so far this year. Joseph Westbrook 26, Leonardo A. Perez-Baltazar, 20, and
Lanae Adams, 28, were arrested this month. Two other suspects were arrested in January.
Westbrook, a resident of Santa Clara, was arrested on February 4. Westbrook allegedly
fatally shot a victim on the 1300 block of 14 th Street on December 31. Three assault rifles and
four pistols were recovered.
Perez-Baltazar, of Oakland, and a juvenile suspect were were arrested February 5 for a fatal
shooting at a sideshow. Several persons were shot January 26 on the 900 block of East 12 th
Street, and one victim died. One rifle and two pistols were recovered.
Adams, an Oakland resident, was arrested February 11. Adams is allegedly involved in a fatal
shooting, January 2 on the 2200 block of East 12 th Street. This victim was shot inside a stolen
vehicle.
Westbrook, Perez-Baltazar, and the juvenile each face murder and firearms-related charges.
Adams was booked on suspicion of murder and firearms offenses, and charges against her
are pending. One assault rifle and two pistols were recovered in the Adams investigation.
Juan Montiel, 34 of Oakland, was arrested January 31. He faces firearms-related charges for
a fatal shooting December 30 on the 4300 block of Fleming Avenue. His charges also include
receiving a stolen vehicle.
U.S. Marshals arrested Jeronimo P. Carrillo, age unavailable, January 31, in Jackson
Michigan. Carrillo faces charges related to the homicide of his girlfriend on March 18, 2023.
She was fatally shot on the 1400 block of 84 th Avenue, while lying in bed with her child.
