Sonora Police Reportedly Pull Over Stolen Vehicle, Driver Arrested

SONORA, CA — Tuolumne County authorities recently arrested a man after reportedly catching him driving a stolen vehicle.
According to a press release by the Sonora Police Department, officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle traveling along northbound Highway 49 on the morning of Sunday, Feb. 9.
Officers stopped the vehicle as it pulled into the Lake Ridge Inn near Tuttletown, the sheriff’s office said.
Authorities identified the driver as Eduardo Carbajal, 37, of Turlock. After confirming that the vehicle Carbajal was driving had been reported stolen, officers took him into custody without incident.
Officers then searched the vehicle and reportedly seized drug paraphernalia and suspected burglary tools, along with a round of ammunition — the latter being illegal for Carbajal to possess due to a prior felony conviction.
Carbajal was ultimately booked at the Tuolumne County jail on suspicion of felony possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of burglary tools, and driving on a suspended license.
