San Jose Police Reportedly Find Illegal Guns, Ammo, Body Armor During Search of Man’s Home

SAN JOSE, CA — “On February 10, 2025, at approximately 1:18 PM, officers responded to a call for service at a residence in the 2200 block of Cottle Ave. The suspect called 911 and reported an armed man with a firearm was attempting to break into his residence. The suspect stated he was also armed and had discharged a round at the other male. Upon arrival, officers called the suspect out of the residence. The suspect alleged the male with the firearm was still inside. Officers cleared the residence and did not locate anyone inside. Officers determined there was never another armed male and that the suspect may have been hallucinating. While inside the residence, officers located multiple firearms including privately manufactured firearms, firearms which were reported stolen and firearms which had their serial numbers altered or removed.
With the assistance of detectives from the Gun and Hazardous Offender Suppression Team (GHOST) unit, Officers obtained a search warrant for the residence. During the search, Officers located body armor, bomb making precursor materials, suspected fentanyl, and additional firearms including several submachine guns. The suspect was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for multiple firearms related violations and for being in possession of explosive precursor materials.
