Grass Valley Woman Arrested for Possession of Stolen Property Following Burglary Investigation

GRASS VALLEY, CA  —  Nevada County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) deputies arrested a Grass Valley woman on February 8 after recovering stolen property linked to a local burglary investigation.

The case began on February 6, when a homeowner on the 16000 block of Brewer Road returned after an extended absence to find his residence had been burglarized. Multiple items, including firearms, were reported stolen. Deputies initiated an investigation and, on February 8, conducted a neighborhood canvass for potential witnesses and evidence.

During their inquiries, deputies spoke with a neighbor, identified as 30-year-old Star Louise Lemas. While at her residence, a deputy observed items in plain view that matched the description of the victim’s stolen property. NCSO detectives secured a search warrant, leading to the recovery of multiple stolen items.

Lemas was taken into custody without incident and charged with receiving stolen property under Penal Code 496(A). The case remains under investigation by NCSO’s Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact investigators at (530) 265-1471.
