Nevada County Deputies Arrest Suspected Child Predator
NEVADA CITY, CA — “Charles “Chuck” Lowry, 71, of Nevada City & Grass Valley, was arrested on Feb.15, 2025, following allegations of child sexual abuse involving two children. The allegations at hand occurred several years ago when both children were under the age of 10 years old.
Deputies of the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) investigated the claims and ultimately arrested Lowry for continuous sexual abuse of a minor – 288.5(A)PC; lewd and lascivious acts with a child under age 14 – 288(A)PC; sex acts with a minor under age 10 – 288.7(A)PC; rape – 261(A)(1)PC; and oral copulation with force – 287(F)(1)PC.
Due to the serious nature of the alleged crimes, NCSO deputies also sought and received a bail enhancement, increasing his bail from $200,000 to no bail. He is currently not eligible for release on bail and will remain in Wayne Brown Correctional Facility to await his court proceedings.
This investigation remains active. NCSO is working closely with the Nevada County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution of the alleged offenses. To protect the children involved in this case, their identities, ages, and affiliation to Lowry will not be released.”
