LIVERMORE, CA — A pair of male suspects have been arrested for vehicle theft in Livermore. Police reviewed evidence recorded by surveillance cameras to arrest John Teixeira, 46 of Oakland and Jared t. Moynahan, 31, of Livermore, on suspicion of vehicle theft.
One of the vehicles was reported stolen February 8, between midnight and 9 a.m. from a residence on Via Granada and located around noon at a Home Depot parking lot. Officers contacted Moynahan and his passenger Teixeira, and placed both men under arrest.
Moynahan and Teixeira were booked on suspicion of multiple charges related to possession of a stolen vehicle. In addition, Moynahan is also suspected of stealing another vehicle one day earlier on February 7. This vehicle was reported stolen from Del Mar Avenue. While Moynahan was being questioned about the vehicle theft on Via Granada, he told police where to find the other stolen vehicle. It was found in San Lorenzo.
Multiple charges have been filed against Moynahan for receiving a stolen motor vehicle, and second-degree robbery, among other offenses. Incidentally, Moynahan has prior arrests and
convictions involving stolen vehicles, and for other crimes. Moynahan was on probation for a vehicle theft conviction in 2024. He was convicted for first-degree residential burglary in 2019. In 2018, Moynahan was convicted of receiving stolen property. He also has prior convictions involving vehicle thefts in 2017, 2016 and 2015.
Moynahan remains in custody, pending a bail hearing on February 25 and Teixeira is no longer listed in custody at Alameda County Santa Rita Jail.
