COVELO, CA — Mendocino County authorities recently arrested an individual following multiple reports of him firing a gun in Covelo.
According to a press release by the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to several reports of a man shooting a gun on the 100 block of Concow Boulevard on the afternoon of Thursday, Feb. 20.
While deputies were enroute, officers from the Round Valley Tribal Police responded to the area and detained the individual, whom the sheriff’s office has identified as Carlos Angelo White, 39.
Deputies soon arrived on scene and reportedly learned that White was on active post-release community supervision, making it illegal for him to own or possess firearms or ammunition.
In accordance with the terms of his post-release status, deputies searched White’s home and reportedly confiscated a firearm and ammunition.
White was arrested on suspicion of discharging a firearm in a negligent manner, being armed with a firearm in the commission of a felony, being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of post-release community supervision.
He was later booked at the Mendocino County jail and deemed ineligible for bond, according to the sheriff’s office.
