ANTIOCH, CA — A man with prior convictions is being held in custody on suspicion of murder in lieu of
$3.14 million bond.
The suspect is 27-year-old Demundre R. Walton, of Antioch, who has been arrested 14 times since 2015.
Walton is reportedly responsible for the fatal shooting of Jacob F. Hernandez, 23, on February 12.
Hernandez was shot near Hillcrest Avenue and Larkspur Drive in Antioch, shortly before 10:30 p.m.
Responding officers found Hernandez suffering from at least one gunshot wound, was
transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators identified Walton as the homicide suspect. U.S. Marshals and Antioch police executed
warrants at a residence in Antioch on February 20. Evidence was collected from the residence and a
vehicle associated with the fatal shooting.
Walton was arrested that day without further incident and transported to the Martinez Detention
Facility. Multiple charges were filed on February 24 against Walton. His charges include murder, and
intentional discharge of a firearm. He is also charged with possession of firearm by a felon.
In addition to prior arrests for burglaries and robberies, Walton also has prior arrests for various
firearm-related offenses.
