Fresno County Tutor Arrested, Accused of Sexually Harassing Minor

KERMAN, CA — A Central California tutor has been arrested for allegedly sending sexually explicit texts to a middle school-age student, authorities say.
In a press release, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as 28-year-old Maci Rodriguez of Kerman.
Rodriguez has worked on contract as an after-school tutor at Kerman Floyd Elementary through the organization Teaching Fellows, the sheriff’s office said.
Earlier this month, the school district and the Kerman Police Department received information regarding possible inappropriate communication between Rodriguez and a minor who had previously been a student at Kerman Floyd Elementary.
Investigators say they’ve uncovered evidence that Rodriguez had been texting the victim in a sexual matter, but have not yet found evidence that any physical sexual contact has occurred.
Rodriguez has been arrested on suspicion of arranging to meet a minor for sexual purposes and sending harmful matter to a minor. Her employer has placed her on administrative leave in light of the investigation, authorities said.
Due to her position as a tutor, investigators believe Rodriguez may have other victims who have yet to come forward. Anyone with information relevant to the case is encouraged to contact Detective Patrick Clark (559) 550-0798 or Detective Fernando Rosario (559) 760-6282.
