Ventura, CA — Two suspects were recently arrested for selling illegal narcotics in a multi-agency task force operation.
Ventura County Sheriff’s Department arrested Vincent Brock, 24, and Kathy Taing, 24, both residents of Canoga Park, for the distribution of fake prescription painkillers containing fentanyl.
The investigation focused on the sale of fentanyl-laced counterfeit pills within its jurisdiction.
According to VCSD spokesman Sgt. John Hajducko, it all began in December 2024, when
detectives from the Ventura County Fentanyl and Overdose Crimes Units (VC FOCUS)
identified Brock and Taing and “monitored the pair and witnessed multiple drug transactions,” within Ventura
County.
On February 20, detectives detained Brock and Taing outside their residence in Canoga Park
and executed a search warrant at their apartment. Investigators recovered “more than 5,000 counterfeit pills, several bottles of prescription cough syrup, over $6,000 in suspected drug
proceeds,” as well as a concealed, loaded handgun.
Brock and Taing were taken into custody on multiple drug and firearm-related charges, including
possession with intent to sell, unlawful firearm possession, and conspiracy. Both were booked
into the Ventura County Jail.
Taing was released after posting bail. Brock remains in custody with his bail set at $55,000.
