Ventura County, CA — A 25-year-old Port Hueneme man was arrested Sunday in connection with a residential burglary in Fillmore.

On Sunday, March 2, Ventura County Sheriff’s Department patrol deputies
responded to a report of a burglary in progress.
According to VCSD spokesman Sgt. Jarrod Foote, the victim told deputies that “an intruder
entered the apartment while occupants were inside” and stole personal property before fleeing
the scene.

Six hours later, at 8:22 a.m. that morning, a local “group home” reported that a court-mandated
resident, Jesus Garcia, had walked away from the facility.

Staff at the facility informed deputies that Garcia “had last been seen the previous night.”

Deputies made contact with Garcia and arrested him for violating a court order and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

A subsequent search of the facility where Garcia was residing uncovered evidence linking Garcia to the burglary, officials said.
Later that day, investigators canvassed the area of the original burglary scene and found further
evidence connecting Garcia to the crime.

He was transported to the Ventura County jail, where he was booked on charges of felony residential burglary and violation of a court order.
