Multi-Agency Effort Leads to Arrests and Firearm Seizure in Watsonville Pursuit

“🚔🚨 CHP K-9 Officer Apprehends Three and Confiscates Multiple Firearms and Drugs ‼️

Yesterday evening, just before 5 p.m., a Coastal Division K-9 officer spotted a white Buick sedan committing several traffic violations on NB HWY 1 near Larkin Valley Rd. When the driver failed to stop, a pursuit ensued, leading us to the city of Watsonville. @watsonvillepd officers were positioned and successfully deployed a spike strip. Two passengers who tried to flee were quickly apprehended, and one of them was found with a stolen handgun! 💪🔫

The driver ran into a nearby residence, but with teamwork from @chpcoastalairops , ISU officers, @santacruzcountyso Deputies, and @watsonvillepd officers, we established a strong perimeter and safely apprehended him. Our search resulted in the discovery of a couple of shotguns and an assault rifle connected to the Buick’s occupants.

A big shout-out to the S.C.A.R.E. task force (Santa Cruz County Auto Theft Reductions and Enforcement) and Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team (SCCACT), who played a pivotal role by doing an through investigation on this incident.

All three—a 24-year-old man from Watsonville, a 17-year-old from Salinas, and the 23-year-old male driver from Watsonville—were arrested and face multiple felony charges, including felony evading and possession of stolen firearms.

A huge thank you to our allied agencies for their incredible support and collaboration. Together, we’re making our communities safer by keeping guns and drugs off the streets! 👮‍♂️”
