Madera County Motorist Arrested for Alleged Reckless Driving After Crashing Car

MADERA, CA  — “On March 4, 2025, just before midnight, a 24-year-old male driving a 1990 Honda Accord, thought it would be a good idea to drive reckless and evade law enforcement. Little did he know he was being followed and tracked by a Fresno Police Department Helicopter. He entered Madera County and CHP Madera officers attempted to make a traffic stop, northbound SR-99, at Cleveland Avenue. The driver had other plans and continued to drive reckless, evading law enforcement.

For the safety of the public, CHP ground units did not pursue and relied on the Fresno PD helicopter to continue monitoring the vehicle. The Honda continued traveling at speeds exceeding 100 mph, with no lights on. In the area of northbound SR-99, at Avenue 24 ½, his poor driving caught up to him and lost control of the Honda. The vehicle crashed into the center median guardrail and the driver was apprehended without incident. Due to the driver not wearing his seatbelt, his head hit the Honda’s windshield at the time of the crash, causing minor injuries.

The driver was booked into the Madera County Jail for felony evading and for an outstanding warrant.”
