NOVATO, CA —  Police recovered more than $1,000 of stolen merchandise from two suspects fleeing from Vintage Oaks Shopping Center in Marin.

Law enforcement arrested Jasan X. Ware, 22, of Novato, and Imereta L. Faalogoifo, 22, of Daly City for the crime.

The incident began when a theft was reported at the Ulta Beauty cosmetics store on March 9.
Officers on patrol attempted to stop the suspects as they were driving away from the shopping
center parking lot. Rather than stopping, the driver sped away on the wrong side of Rowland
Boulevard.

Novato police pursued the suspects with help from the Marin County Sheriff’s Office, and
California Highway Patrol. Driving recklessly, the suspect car continued to Highway 101,
before exiting onto Ignacio Boulevard. Again, the suspect car was traveling on the wrong side
of road. Next it drove back onto Highway 101 traveling southbound.

The suspect car entered San Rafael, where it appeared damaged near the Miller Creek Road
off-ramp, possibly from hitting a curb. Smoke started pouring out the car and it finally stopped
near the Manuel T. Freitas Parkway exit.

Officers detained Ware and his passenger Faalogoifo, who were placed under arrest shortly
after 3 p.m.

Ware who has two prior convictions was booked on open charges into Marin
County Jail where he remains in lieu of $55,839 bond.

His charges include grand theft, and evading an officer with disregard for safety.

Faalogoifo was booked on suspicion of conspiracy to commit crime, and wearing a mask for
an unlawful purpose and has been released from custody, pending further investigation.
