Two Suspects Arrested in Armed Robbery Investigation in Monterey

MONTEREY ,CA –– ”On March 8, 2025, at approximately 6:47 p.m., Monterey Police Officers were dispatched to an armed robbery in the 700 block of Pearl Street. When officers arrived on scene, they located the victim who was suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. The victim stated he was with two people he knew when they suddenly produced handguns and robbed him. The victim fled and the suspects chased him and struck him in the head. An uninvolved witness observed the altercation and intervened by spraying the suspects with pepper spray. The suspects fled in a vehicle and were not apprehended. The victim received medical attention at a nearby hospital and was released.
Monterey Police Department (MPD) Officers investigated this case and initially identified one suspect as Angelo Huerta, 19 years old of Sacramento. Using Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras, officers were also able to identify the suspect vehicle. Officers obtained an arrest warrant for Huerta for robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
On March 12, 2025, Officers with the Roseville Police Department arrested Huerta in the 1400 block of Lead Hill Blvd, Roseville. MPD detectives traveled to the Roseville area to continue the investigation. MPD Detectives identified Anthony Garcia, 21 years old of Sacramento, as the second suspect. Garcia was arrested by MPD detectives in Roseville.
Huerta was booked into Placer County Jail on charges of 211 PC – robbery, 245 PC – assault with a deadly weapon, 182 PC – conspiracy, 422 PC – criminal threats, 12022.5 PC – use of firearm in the commission of a crime, and 25400 PC – carry a concealed weapon in a vehicle. His bail was set at $370,000.
Garcia was transported to Monterey County Jail and booked on charges of 211 PC – robbery, 245 PC – assault with a deadly weapon, 182 PC – conspiracy, 422 PC – criminal threats, 12022.5 PC – use of firearm in the commission of a crime, and 25400 PC – carry a concealed weapon in a vehicle. His bail was set at $375,000. ”
