Hesperia Man Arrested for Practicing Dentistry Without a License and Prescribing Controlled Substances

INCIDENT: Prescribing a Controlled Substance without Treatment, Furnishing Controlled Substances, Forge or Alter a Prescription, Practicing Dentistry without a Valid License
LOCATION: 9300 block of 11th Avenue, Hesperia
SUSPECT: Uriel Torres Cortes, 60-year-old resident of Hesperia
SUMMARY: In January 2025, investigators assigned to the Hesperia Police Station began an investigation reference a subject performing illegal dentistry from the 9300 block of 11th Avenue in the city of Hesperia. Through investigation, the suspect was identified as Uriel Torres Cortes, 60-year-old, resident of Hesperia.
On March 6, 2025, a search warrant was served at Cortes’ residence. Investigators recovered evidence of Cortes performing dentistry without a license. California Department of Consumer and Affairs confirmed Cortes did not have a license to practice dentistry.
Cortes is being charged with HS11154(a)- Prescribing a Controlled Substance without Treatment, HS11153.5(a)- Furnishing Controlled Substances, HS11368- Forge or Alter a Prescription, BP 1701.1-Unauthorized Practice, and BP1701(f)- Practicing Dentistry without a Valid License. The case will be sent to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office for review and filling.
