Three Arrested in Rancho Cucamonga for Negligent Discharge of a Firearm and Possession of Stolen Property

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA — “DATE/TIME: March 9, 2025 / 3:50 a.m.

PC 496(A)- Possession of Stolen Property
LOCATION: 11000 block of Carina Place, Rancho Cucamonga
SUSPECT(S): Darius Curtis, Age 19, Resident of Adelanto
Roger Smith, Age 18, Resident of Adelanto
Juvenile, Age 17, Resident of Adelanto
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On March 9, 2025, at approximately 3:50 a.m., deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to the 11000 block of Carina Place, reference multiple 911 calls of shots heard. The reporting parties called 911 stating several subjects were seen fighting and several gunshots were heard. The reporting parties were not able to provide a description of the subjects and did not know if anyone was shot, but heard several vehicles leaving the area.
Deputies responded and found multiple fired cartridge casings and several vehicles with bullet hole damage. Deputies contacted and detained several subjects at a residence, including Darius Curtis, Roger Smith and a 17 year-old juvenile, all residents of Adelanto. Deputies authored and served a search warrant for the residence.
During the search warrant service, deputies recovered four firearms. Three of the four firearms were discovered to have been stolen. It was determined the suspects fired several rounds at a vehicle fleeing the area. No shooting victims were located in the area or at local hospitals.
Darius Curtis and Roger Smith were arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center for PC 246.3(A)- Negligent Discharge of a Firearm and PC 496(A)-Receiving Stolen Property. A 17 year-old juvenile was arrested and booked at San Bernardino Juvenile Hall for PC 246.3(A) Negligent Discharge of a Firearm and PC 496(A)- Receiving Stolen Property.
