Watsonville Police Arrest Teen Gang Member, Recover Firearm at Local Park

WATSONVILLE, CA — “A routine patrol at a local park led Officers to the recovery of a firearm and the arrest of a Watsonville gang member.
While patrolling Riverside Drive, Officers noticed two individuals inside Riverside Park after-hours Saturday night. When they contacted the 16-year-old gang member and attempted to do a pat-down search, he ran from Officers and ignored their commands to stop.
Officers were eventually able to detain the suspect and find a gun in his left pocket. During their investigation, Officers learned that the suspect had prior firearm-related offenses.
A 17-year-old girl who was detained at the scene was released to her parents.
The suspect was booked into Juvenile Hall on multiple charges, including carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a loaded firearm, resisting arrest, gang activity, and being a minor in possession of a gun.”
