$1M Bail for Shasta County Man Accused of Possession, Transportation of Narcotics for Sale

LAKEHEAD, CA  —  “On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at approximately 10:30 AM, a vehicle traveling northbound on Interstate 5 was stopped for a traffic violation by a California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer working in the area of Lakehead. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Victor Javier Medrano-Orellana, age 24, from Oakland, CA.

During the traffic stop, the CHP officer utilized their narcotic-odor-detection K9 which resulted in a probable cause search of the vehicle. During the search, approximately 26 pounds of suspected cocaine was located inside the vehicle within fabricated compartments. Medrano-Orellana was also in possession of approximately $600.00 dollars of US Currency.

After discovering the suspected cocaine, the Shasta Interagency Narcotics Task Force (SINTF) was contacted and responded to assume the investigation. SINTF detectives placed Medrano-Orellana under arrest for possession/transportation of a controlled substance for the purpose of sales and utilizing a fabricated compartment to transport a controlled substance.

Medrano-Orellana is currently in custody at the Shasta County Jail with bail set at $1,000,000 dollars.”
