Santa Barbara County, CA – Bicycle riding bank thief arrested in Santa Barbara.
On February 11, 2025, Santa Barbara police responded to a robbery at Mechanics Bank, located
on a busy downtown thoroughfare.
According to Santa Barbara Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Bryan Kerr, “A female suspect entered the bank and informed the teller
that she was armed with a gun, although no weapon was seen.”
The suspect then fled on a bicycle “with an undisclosed amount of money.”
Police promptly obtained video surveillance footage and released images of the suspect,
described at the time as “a white woman in her mid-to-late 20s with long, light brown hair,
wearing a pink sweatshirt and black leggings.”
After a month-long investigation, Santa Barbara Police Department detectives identified the
suspect as 32-year-old Jaclynn Marie Blackwell of Carpinteria.
On March 11, Santa Barbara County sheriff’s deputies made contact with Blackwell arrested her on an outstanding warrant.
“Detectives worked diligently to identify and locate the suspect,” Kerr said. “This arrest was the
result of strong investigative efforts and cooperation with allied agencies.”
Blackwell was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail with her bail set at $500,000. She
remains in custody pending further court proceedings.
