Man Allegedly Caught with Stolen Gun During Traffic Stop in Riverside County

RIVERSIDE, CA  — A 29 year old Riverside County man was recently arrested after allegedly being caught with a stolen gun during a traffic stop.

Records indicate that Riverside PD Officer Sharpe initially pulled the driver over for a vehicle code violation on the morning of Friday, March 21st, near the intersection of Kansas and 7th streets.

Officer Sharpe reported that the suspect, whom he identified as Daniel Martinez, opened the glove compartment to provide the vehicle’s registration, allegedly revealing a handgun in plain sight.

In the report, the officer stated that the gun, a Glock 48 containing six rounds, had been reported missing in Upshur, Texas.

According to Jail records, Martinez was ultimately taken into custody and booked at the Riverside County Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of having a concealed firearm in a vehicle and carrying a loaded firearm while not the registered owner.

Jail records also indicate that Martinez posted bond in the amount of $10,000 and was released later that day. His next court date is scheduled for Friday, May 2nd 2025 at the Riverside Hall of Justice court under case number 250007460.

A cursory search of California arrests logs, indicate that this most recent incident is not Martinez’ first brush with the law. Records indicate multiple prior arrests for Martinez as outlined below, however the case disposition status for these prior arrests is unknown at this time.
