Madera County Man Arrested for Allegedly Brandishing Shears at Civilian, Officers

MADERA, CA — A Madera man was arrested after allegedly brandishing shears at a civilian and officers earlier this month.
According to the Madera Police Department, officers responded on the morning of Friday, March 14, to a report of an individual brandishing a large set of shears at an individual “in a threatening manner.”
Responding officers located the suspect, who allegedly brandished the shears at them as well and then fled on foot.
Police pursued the suspect as he reportedly jumped into a large dumpster behind a business. At that point, officers tried to de-escalate the situation.
The suspect allegedly would not drop the shears and ultimately had to be forced to do so with the use of a taser.
The suspect, whom police identified as 40-year-old Michael Caballero, was arrested and booked on several felony charges and a violation of probation, police said.
