Fresno Man Arrested for Allegedly Shooting at Occupied Home

FRESNO, CA  —  “On Sunday March 16, 2025, shortly after 1:30 am, Northeast officers responded to Gettysburg Avenue and First Street for reports of a shooting as well as a four-round ShotSpotter activation.

Officers learned that there had been an argument between the victim and the suspect the day prior to the shooting, and the suspect told the victim he was going to return to his house at a later time. The following morning, the subject returned to the home demanding that the victim come outside. The victim told the suspect to leave and then heard several gunshots. Officers arrived and found evidence of the shooting, including the exterior wall of an apartment which had been struck three times.

On March 18, 2025, detectives were able to identify the suspect in the shooting as Steven Flores Estrada, a convicted felon. On Thursday, March 20, 2025, detectives located Estrada at a residence near Madison Avenue and Maple Avenue. As officers were making PA announcements telling anyone inside to exit the home, Estrada ran out of a detached garage towards the rear alley and tried resisting the arrest. Estrada was apprehended by officers and a police canine.

During a search warrant of the residence after Estrada’s arrest, officers located a firearm that is believed to be the same firearm used in the initial shooting. Estrada was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail for multiple charges related to the shooting.”
