Parlier Man Arrested: Suspect of Shooting at Apartment Complex & Fleeing Law Enforcement

PARLIER, CA  —  A Fresno County man reportedly faces numerous felony charges for allegedly discharging a firearm negligently and evading deputies, according to law enforcement.

In a press release, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Armando Lopez, 44, of Parlier. Lopez reportedly faces ten felony charges in connection with an incident that began in the early morning hours of Friday, March 21.

The incident began when deputies responded to a call reporting gunfire on the 10000 block of E. Redondo Ave. in Del Rey. The shots had been fired at an apartment complex someone in a grey Chevrolet Suburban but nobody was struck, authorities said.

Deputies located the Chevy and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled. Deputies pursued the vehicle, occasionally at speeds of up to 90 m.p.h., before the driver ultimately crashed into an orchard near South McCall and E. Parlier avenues.

The driver, identified as Lopez, allegedly tried to run away but was quickly apprehended, authorities said.

Deputies searched the vehicle Lopez had been driving and reportedly seized two short-barrel AR-15-style pistols and several hundred rounds of ammo. Lopez is legally prohibited from possessing weapons or ammunition due to a prior felony conviction.

The pistols were found to be privately manufactured, i.e. ghost guns, according to the sheriff’s office.
