On March 17, 2025, at approximately 7:44 PM, City of Ione Police Officers were alerted to a non-injury vehicle accident behind the Ione Post Office. The involved driver was identified by the reporting party as Stacy Rhoades, who is currently serving as mayor. Given the circumstances of the incident and Mr. Rhoades’s public position, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) was called in to handle the investigation, focusing on a potential DUI.
CHP officers conducted the DUI investigation and subsequently arrested Mr. Rhoades for driving under the influence. He was then booked into the Amador County Jail. According to the reports, there were no injuries reported at the scene, only property damage. Insurance and contact information were exchanged among the involved parties.
Mr. Rhoades cooperated with both the Ione Police and CHP throughout the process. The investigation into the accident remains open and active.
