Sutter County Deputies Arrest Two in Suspicious Vehicle Investigation; Seize Firearms and Drugs
SUTTER COUNTY, CA — On the evening of Sunday March 23rd, deputies with the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office engaged with a suspicious vehicle parked in front of a driveway on the 7200 block of Pleasant Grove Road, leading to multiple arrests. Upon interaction, deputies discovered the vehicle’s driver was unlicensed. Suspicious behavior was also noted from the passengers; 48-year-old Brian Fleenor of Rio Linda attempted to hide what seemed to be a meth pipe.
During the investigation, David Morris, 41, also from Rio Linda, returned to the vehicle carrying concealed property in his hat. A records check on Morris revealed an outstanding out-of-county warrant. He also admitted to hiding a bag of methamphetamine in the vehicle.
Upon searching the area Morris had visited, deputies found an unloaded Ruger semi-automatic firearm and additional methamphetamine weighing 1.21 net grams. The firearm was not listed in any system. Morris, a convicted felon with prior narcotics convictions, was found in possession of the firearm and drugs.
Further search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 22.82 net grams of methamphetamine associated with Fleenor, along with more paraphernalia. Under the driver’s seat, deputies found another meth pipe and 3.17 net grams of methamphetamine, totaling approximately 27.20 net grams of methamphetamine seized during the operation.
Morris was arrested and booked on multiple charges including his existing warrant, possession of a controlled substance, and felon possession of a firearm. Fleenor was charged with possession of paraphernalia and controlled substance possession with priors. The unlicensed driver was cited, and the vehicle was handed over to a licensed driver.
