Domestic Violence Incident on Red Robin Rd: Suspect Arrested

PLACERVILLE, CA — “El Dorado County deputies responded to the 6200 block of Red Robin Rd. in Placerville for a report of a domestic violence incident and a possible subject who was armed with a firearm.
Deputies arrived at the address around 1 p.m. March 31 and contacted the one of the parties.
While conducting the investigation, deputies heard what sounded to be a gunshot and observed a male inside of the residence who was armed with a handgun. The man, later identified as Jason Lee Wanzell, 49, of Sacramento, refused to exit the residence.
An EDSO Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) member was on scene and worked to establish communication with the male in the residence. After approximately six hours, the male subject exited the residence and was safely taken into custody without further incident.
Wanzell was placed under arrest and at 8:14 p.m. and booked into the El Dorado County Jail in Placerville for the following charges: 29800(A)(1) PC Felon in possession of a firearm; 30305(A)(1) PC Prohibited person possess ammunition; 246.3(A) PC Willful discharge of a firearm in a grossly negligent manner; 273.5(A) PC Inflict corporal injury on spouse/cohabitant; 368(B)(1) Injury to elder/dependent adult; 148(A)(1) PC Obstruct/resist peace officer. Total bail is set at $223,000.00 with an additional No Bail enhancement.
