SOUTH SACRAMENTO, CA — “Sacramento County Sheriff’s Central Patrol Division Deputies responded to a residence on the 8000 block of Chriswoods Court in South Sacramento March 30 to the report of a shooting.
Deputies arrived on scene and discovered a 16-year-old female suffering from a single gunshot wound.
Deputies and Fire Department personnel attempted to render first-aid, but the victim was unfortunately pronounced deceased at the scene.
Several juveniles at the residence were detained at the time of the incident, as the circumstances around the shooting were unclear. Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene, collected evidence and interviewed witnesses.
Based on their investigation, detectives learned that an additional 16-year-old juvenile subject brought a firearm to the location.
While the juveniles were playing with the firearm inside of the residence, the subject fatally shot the victim in the head before fleeing the scene with the firearm.
A records check of the individual revealed he had three outstanding felony warrants, along with prior arrests for weapons violations and sex crimes in 2023. Detectives subsequently obtained a Ramey arrest warrant for PC 187(a) – Murder.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau located the suspect in Stockton and took him into custody. The juvenile suspect was later booked into custody at Sacramento County Juvenile Hall.”
