OXNARD, CA — March 30, 2025
A months-long investigation led to the arrest of two brothers for the sale of drugs with delivery service.
Detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters Investigation Unit, assisted by the Fentanyl and Overdose Crimes Unit
and Headquarters Patrol, served a search warrant on an Oxnard residence which led to the arrests of two brothers.
Investigators identified two Oxnard brothers, Enrique Benitez, 18, and Erick Benitez, 26, as the
operators of the delivery service.
According to Detective Jonathan Schnereger, spokesman for the Ventura County Sheriff’s
Department, “the operation followed a two-month investigation into a narcotics delivery service
suspected of targeting juveniles throughout Ventura County.”
The suspects had been allegedly distributing psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana, and nicotine vape products to juveniles using social media and
messaging applications. At least one juvenile was hospitalized after consuming psilocybin obtained through the operation, officials said.
During the execution of the search warrant, investigators recovered “approximately 20 grams of
psilocybin mushrooms, 88 marijuana vape devices, 10 nicotine vape devices, a large amount of
loose marijuana, more than $2,000 in cash, and a loaded non-serialized P-80 handgun.”
Enrique and Erick Benitez were both arrested and booked into the Ventura County Pre-
Trial Detention Facility on multiple felony charges including sale of a controlled substance to a
minor, possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of a controlled substance with a
firearm, and child endangerment.
Both remain in custody with identical bail amounts of $250,000.
