Fontana Man Arrested for Attempted Murder Following Road Rage and Shooting Incident

FONTANA, CA  —  On the evening of March 24, 2025, at around 9:38 p.m., Fontana Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of gunfire stemming from an argument between two male adults on the 14800 block of Merrill Avenue. Witnesses reported the incident involved two vehicles fleeing the scene, engaging in what appeared to be a road rage incident throughout the streets of Fontana.

Deputy Saragih, assisted by California Highway Patrol (CHP) units, conducted a high-risk traffic stop on both vehicles at the intersection of Live Oak Avenue and Village Drive in Fontana’s Southridge area. Upon investigation, it was revealed that one of the drivers, Randy Castillo, 39, of Fontana, had a dispute over money with the victim which escalated to Castillo firing several shots at close range in an attempt to kill him. The firearm believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered at the stop.

Christina Brown, 38, of Hesperia, who was in the other vehicle, was arrested for aiding Castillo in fleeing the scene, thus being charged as an accessory to the crime. Both Castillo and Brown were taken into custody without further incident. Castillo faces charges of attempted murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The Fontana Sheriff’s Station is investigating the incident further and has appealed for any additional victims of related road rage incidents to come forward.
