SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, CA —
A Buellton woman was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing incident that left a man with multiple
injuries.
At approximately 1:56 a.m. on March 30 a sheriff’s deputy encountered a man lying in the roadway on Highway 246.
According to Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Public Information Officer Raquel Zick, the deputy approached to remove the man from the roadway
and discovered he had sustained multiple stab wounds and lacerations to the shoulder, hip, chest,
back, and hand.
“The victim told deputies that his girlfriend had stabbed him and was inside a nearby residence,” she said.
Additional patrol units were summoned to the reported residence while aid continued to
be rendered to the victim.
As deputies attempted to stabilize the scene, the suspect, identified as Lydia Alicia Gonzales, 40, exited the residence and “threw cans of beer at deputies,” which led
to her being summarily taken into custody, and restrained “despite being extremely combative.”
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition. Gonzales, a Buellton resident, was transported to Santa Barbara County Jail where she
was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and domestic violence.
Gonzalez has prior arrests for physical abuse of a co-habitant, resisting and burglary. She remains in custody with her bail set at $1 million.
