Seaside Man Sentenced to Four Years for Domestic Violence and Restraining Order Violation

SEASIDE, CA — “Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni announced today that the Honorable Andrew G. Liu sentenced Jaime Palconit Astilla, age 49 of Seaside, to four years in state prison for committing an act of violence while violating a domestic violence restraining order with prior convictions.
On January 27, 2025, Seaside Police officers were dispatched to a report of an assault. Officers arrived and met with Astilla’s mother. She told officers that her son was upset and yelling at her. During the argument, Astilla took his mother’s purse and thr1)ew it across the yard. When she stood up from a chair to retrieve it, Astilla confronted her and shoved her from behind. At the time there was a restraining order preventing Astilla from being at his mother’s house or coming within one hundred yards of her.
Astilla has seven prior convictions for violating restraining orders in the last seven years. He received a two-year prison sentence, which was doubled to four years because he had a prior “strike” conviction within the meaning of California’s Three Strikes Law.
This case was investigated by Seaside Police Officer Jonathan Moore.”
