PLEASANTON, CA — A man walked into the Pleasanton Police Department lobby and told police that he
just killed his mother.
Malcolm I. Tilley, a 31-year-old Pleasanton resident, was questioned further and
arrested on suspicion of murder.
“He stated that he killed his 71-year-old mother following a dispute,” according to a prepared
statement released by Pleasanton police. “Evidence found at the home included several kitchen
knives, which were located near the victim.”
Officers responding to the family’s residence at 4115 Alvarado Street found the suspect’s mother.
Marjory F. Methvin, 71, bloodied and dead. Her body was exactly where the man told the police
they would find it. She apparently died as a result of multiple knife stabbing wounds.
Tilley was arrested on April 1 and booked into Alameda County Santa Rita Jail, where he remains.
Six felony charges were filed against Tilley including murder. He is also charged
with special allegations pertaining to use of a deadly weapon to cause great bodily injury.
No prior incidents at the family’s residence are reported in police department records. Pleasanton
police said this homicide investigation is ongoing. “Our detectives are working to gather additional
