SOUTH SACRAMENTO, CA — “Just after 9 p.m. Saturday Sacramento County Sheriff’s Central Patrol Division Deputies responded to the report of an assault in progress near Stockton Boulevard and Orange Avenue in South Sacramento.
The caller reported seeing a male hitting, pushing, and dragging a woman on the street.
Deputies arrived moments later and contacted the male, later identified as 40-year-old Mitchell Green, who had his arm wrapped around the naked female victim’s neck as he was attempting to drag her through a nearby canal.
Deputies successfully took Green into custody and were able to rescue the female without further incident.
The victim reported that she had never seen Green before, who approached her while walking through the park. When he initially went to grab her, she was able to run away, but Green chased her, grabbed her from behind, and tore her dress partially off while wrapping his arms around her neck.
Green forcibly dragged her for approximately 100 feet before Deputies arrived on scene and took him into custody.
The victim did not sustain any injuries. Green was arrested for kidnapping and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he remains on $100,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 8.”
