Juvenile Suspects Arrested for Armed Robbery at Porterville High School

Suspect:
Confidential Male Juvenile, 17-Year-Old Porterville Resident
Confidential Male Juvenile, 16-Year-Old Porterville Resident

Victim:
Confidential Male Juvenile, 16-Year-Old Porterville Resident

On March 28, 2025 at approximately 3:55 P.M., Porterville Police School Resource Officers responded to Porterville High School regarding an armed robbery that occurred on the campus at approximately 7:54 A.M. School staff reported that a student was walking through the campus when they were approached by two male juveniles that attend a different high school. One of the suspects brandished a knife and demanded the victim give him his necklace and other personal items. The victim gave the suspect the items and the suspects left the area. During the course of the investigation, School Resource Officers were able to positively identify both of the suspects. One of the juvenile suspects is a documented member of a criminal street gang, has an extensive criminal history, and is currently on probation for theft related crimes and resisting arrest.

On March 29, 2025 Detectives with the Porterville Police Departments Special Investigations Unit assumed the investigation. Detectives obtained arrest warrants for both suspects and search warrants for their respective residences. At approximately 5:25 P.M. detectives responded to a residence in the 700 block of South Roche Street where they contacted one of the suspects and took him into custody without incident. The search warrant was executed at the residence where detectives located evidence of the crime.

Detectives then responded to a residence in the sub-100 block of West Date Avenue where they took the second suspect into custody without incident. A search warrant was executed at the residence where additional evidence was located.

Both suspects were transported to the Tulare County Juvenile Detention Facility where they were booked on charges of Armed Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, and Participating in a Criminal Street Gang. Both juveniles are being held without bail.
