Riverside Shooting in Entertainment District Leads to Arrest on Attempted Murder Charges

RIVERSIDE, CA — “Around 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2025, Riverside Police Officers responded to a reported shooting near Main Street and University Avenue in the Downtown Entertainment District. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male with a gunshot wound to his leg. Firefighter-Paramedics from the Riverside Fire Department provided treatment at the scene before the victim was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
Officers determined that the victims had been involved in an altercation with the suspect shortly before the shooting. The suspect later drove along University Avenue near Main Street and shot at the victims before fleeing.
Detectives from the Gang Intelligence Unit, Narcotics Unit, and officers from the METRO Team assisted with the investigation. 26-year-old Hector Alfonso Sanchez Torres was identified and located in the Home Gardens community of unincorporated Riverside County, where he was placed under arrest. He was later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for attempted murder with bail set at one million dollars.
