Kern County Authorities Seize Fentanyl, Xanax, and More in Narcotics Investigation

BAKERSFIELD, CA — Kern County authorities have arrested an individual and seized fentanyl, Xanax, weapons, and more in connection with an ongoing narcotics investigation.

On Monday, April 7, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office and the Kern County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force concluded the investigation with a traffic stop and a search warrant, the sheriff’s office said in a press release.

According to the sheriff’s office, the California Highway Patrol had pulled over a vehicle along northbound Highway 99, near David Road, and detained the driver, whom they identified as Eliseo Lopez, 22.

In the vehicle, officers reportedly found “several thousand” fentanyl-laced M-30 and Xanax pills in the passenger compartment.

Authorities also carried out a search warrant at Lopez’s residence on Ashe Road, confiscating more M-30 pills, a loaded unregistered handgun, and a large amount of U.S. currency, the sheriff’s office said.

In total, authorities reportedly seized more than 26,000 fentanyl-laced M-30 pills, 15 grams of Xanax, a loaded handgun, and U.S. currency alleged to be proceeds from illegal drug sales.

Lopez was booked into the Lerdo Justice Facility on suspicion of the possession of a controlled substance, possession for sale, transportation of a controlled substance, and maintaining a residence for drug sales.
