JACKSON – CHP and ACSO deputies tried to pull over the driver of a stolen motorcycle on Highway 88. The driver had other plans.
A report noted that the stolen cycle came from Santa Clara. At 11:30 p.m. on August 20 2 deputies and an officer attempted at first to pull the suspect over.
The chase went west on 88, starting at Dalton Road. Their speeds exceeded 100 m.p.h. at times. The chase extended into Calaveras County, south of Amador.
Then the motorcycle crashed and 24-year-old Valley Springs resident Jonathan Morris “fled into the woods.” Officers chased him into the woods and caught him.
Finally, they arrested him and charged him with evading police and possession of a stolen vehicle. His bail is $75,000.
