Ventura County – In the first place, a recent gun and opium bust brought to light the usual nefarious conundrum. Having a felony record and attracts the attention of the VCSD detectives and the Oxnard Police Department’s investigators. It may not be a good idea for you to continue being involved in criminal activity.

Throughout the month of June, 2018, the VCSD and OPD received tips about ongoing drugs and firearms sales taking place at a specific home in the City of Oxnard. Early in the morning of September 19th, according to VCSD spokesman Sgt. J. Hendren, OPD SWAT and VCSD Special Crimes Unit and Sheriff’s Gang Unit personnel “executed a search warrant at the residence” in question.

That early morning visit lead to the discovery of a veritable arsenal of weapons and a cornucopia of controlled substances. The cops also determined that the residents of the home were involved in the “illegal cultivation and production of opium.” Among those in the residence who were taken into custody that morning are Oxnard residents Desiree Ayala, 34, Kyle Jones, 22, Colin Jones, 28, Trevor Hamden, 30, and Elaine Larussi, 28.
Seized during the search was evidence including: a Glock 17 pistol, ammunition, items related to the illegal manufacture of firearms, prescription medication, and materials related to the cultivation and manufacture of opium.
As a result,the five suspects face various charges, including:
- Being under the influence of a controlled substance;
- Being a felon in possession of a firearm;
- Felon in possession of ammunition;
- Possession of a short-barreled rifle.
Colin Jones remains in custody on $50,000 bail, while Hamden remains in custody on $40,000 bail.
