JAMESTOWN – Once again, a traffic stop late at night became a drug arrest for the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department.
Near midnight on Monday night, a deputy stopped a green Dodge Durango near 3rd Avenue and Seco Street.
The vehicle had failed to stop at a stop sign. Officers determined that the driver – 28-year-old Carlton Schuster of Sonora was on CDC parole. He also had .07 grams of meth in his possession.
The deputy called in K-9 Hans to do a narcotics sniff. Hans alerted his fellow officers that there were drugs inside. Deputies then found hypodermic needles and stolen property.
30-year-old Avenall Ruddock of Modesto was a passenger in the Durango. She had paraphernalia, heroin and a bottle of prescription pills. The bottle, however, did not have her name on it.
Deputies arrested the pair and charged them with possession of controlled substance and paraphernalia. Schuster was also charged with possession of stolen property and parole violation.
