ORLAND – An incident on Halloween night became a fight from which attempted homicide charges emerged.
It began during the school day as two juvenile males “had an on-going beef”. They agreed to meet near Trinity and Seventh Streets during their lunch hour, where the physical fight ended up taking place.
Juvenile 1 invited one of his friends to join and escalate the fight with a weapon. The friend chased and tried to stab Juvenile 2.
Then Juvenile 1 and his friend got into a Ford Ranger and tried to run Juvenile 2 over. Juvenile 2 and his 3 friends “hid in a store for safety.” When they thought it was safe to leave, they walked out. Juvenile 1 and his friend in the Ranger spotted them.
The Ranger proceed at a high rate of speed, rode up onto the sidewalk and struck one of Juvenile 2’s friends, resulting in a minor leg injury.
Officers later went to a residence in the 6400 block of Co Road 12 and arrested Juvenile 1 and his friend. Their charges are attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, threats, felony hit and run, conspiracy and intimidation of a witness.
