Anaheim, California, is touted as the home of “the happiest place on earth” – the Disneyland and California Adventure theme parks. However, it has now added a murder to its low annual tally.
On the morning of November 20th, 2018, the Anaheim Police Department received and responded to a call reporting violence against a woman inside of a residence on North Siesta Street. The address, which is in north-western Anaheim, is at a distance from the city’s amusement parks and general resort area.
Upon arrival at the house, Anaheim police officers found that the woman was dead and that a man, alleged to be her attacker, was standing by.
The alleged assaulter, identified as Michael Carl Hallgren of Anaheim, aged 64, was taken into custody without incident and booked for murder at the Anaheim Detention Facility. Hallgren was being held on the statutorily set bail of $1 million.
The exact cause of death of the victim, identified as Lucinda Louise Palma, aged 70 and also of Anaheim, had not been made public as of Thursday.
City detectives did not release details on the relationship, if any, between the suspect and the victim. Neither was it specified if the site of the murder was the personal residence of either party involved.
